Here’s a layout I did while working for Guideposts for Kids magazine. We had been using David Catrow to draw lots of tiny spot illustrations and then scattered them across the spread. I lobbied the editor to use him to do one large image instead. We were very happy with the results. I think my phone call to him went something like, “Hey, Dave, what do you think about drawing Thomas Jefferson trying to write the Declaration of Independence with goosefeather quill pens, surrounded by meddling, insane geese?”

“I love it.”
