the lepidopterist

This image is the beginning of a strange project I got involved in a couple of years ago. It is a collection of odd images to be used for a unique web page. Other images in the series have titles such as “The Silenced Mime”, “The Misused Popsicle”, or “The Chain-Letter Svengali”.

One random image would be placed in each of the four categories: Suspect, Victim, Object, and Situation. The statement, ”Something terrible has happened—but what?”, would appear at the top of the page. No other explanation would be offered aside from the title at the bottom of each illustration. The human brain, being confronted with images with no discernable connection, would then begin to create a scenario to link the images together. At least that’s the theory.

As of today I have 72 sketches waiting to be inked.
