I created the new otters by thinking of potential popsicle flavors. I then matched them with well known or semi-well known personalities. I thought of peach, pineapple, cherry, melon, tangerine, fudge, vanilla, banana, kiwi, root beer, and others. I then whittled down based on color and personality. I wanted a good balance of male vs. female otters, and I felt that two brown pops weren’t colorful enough—thus Root Beeryshnikov was jettisoned.
