When I redesigned Christian Parenting Today magazine, the request was to make it “an oasis of calm”. The last thing parents wanted after putting the kids to bed at the end of their long day was to sit down to a frenetic, garish magazine screaming for their attention.

So the idea was to build “white space” into the layout. I also created a color scheme of rich pastels and sunlit hues. I based colors after popsicles, sherbets, and the color of leaves when light shines through them.
