Just for fun, I decided to redesign a product from my childhood—Otter Pops. When I searched for them online, I discovered Otter Pops are still being made. Once I had redrawn the original characters, I began making up new flavors.

Sharp eyes will notice that I’ve eliminated one of the original otters (Poncho Punch) because he seemed like a bit more like a racial caricature than a solid, interesting character. Of course, Louie Bloo is ridiculously Parisian, but no-one is shooting the French if they visit the U.S.

Other flavors that were sketched that didn’t make the cut were Root Beeryshnikov, Anne of the Green Grapes, The Brothers Bananamazov, Venus deMango, William Shakesberry, and Vanilla Cather.
