Mr. Charon is the ferryman to the Underworld. Being one of the oldest characters in Greek mythology, he’s also very wise. He serves as counsel to Pluto, and comes and goes as he pleases.
I had originally conceived him in the traditional fashion of an old man wearing a hooded cloak, but I had been listening to the music of Mississippi Fred McDowell and his steakbone slide guitar when the idea of the ferryman as bluesman took hold. His guitar is his muse and companion, Bluscylla.
